Twice per month during the 10:00am service, children in primary grades are given the opportunity to hear the readings and respond to them in a way that they can especially relate to and understand. They are back in church in time for Communion. This ministry is called Children’s Liturgy of the Word. We occasionally have Sunday School for Everyone, where children, family members and all parishioners are invited to learn a special lesson and work together on a project or activity.
Youth Group
At St. Thomas we have a youth group that is open to middle- and high-school students, beginning in sixth grade. Youth and adult leaders get together at least once a month. There is a youth room in the parish office where kids meet but sometimes our time together takes us to other places. The youth group seeks to create gatherings that focus on three areas:
Faith formation (growing in understanding of the Christian way of living),
Social activities that build connections and are enjoyable, and
Outreach projects that help kids to learn about the needs of the community in which they live and gives them a chance to do some hands-on service.
